Tempeh hot dogs with cucumber kimchi

Hot dogs with a difference! Try our tempeh hot dogs with a spicy marinade and crunchy cucumber kimchi. This plant-based delicacy brings variety to your plate - uncomplicated, delicious and full of flavor.
Ingredients for 4 hot dogs

1 pack of tempeh
4 hot dog buns
A few salad leaves
some oil for frying
sauces, e.g. mustard, ketchup, mayo or tartar sauce
2-3 tbsp cucumber kimchi
optional: fried onions

Ingredients for the tempeh marinade

2 tbsp water
2 tbsp agave syrup or maple syrup
1 tsp rapeseed oil
1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
1 dash apple cider vinegar
0.5 tsp paprika
0.5 tsp cumin
0.5 tsp cayenne pepper

This is how we proceed

  1. Mix the ingredients for the marinade together in a container.
  2. Cut the tempeh into four thin strips, mix with the marinade and leave to stand in the fridge for at least an hour.
  3. Wash the lettuce leaves and tear if necessary.
  4. Fry the marinated tempeh strips in a pan with a little oil on both sides.
  5. Spread the hot dog buns with your desired sauces, then add the lettuce leaves, tempeh and a few tablespoons of cucumber kimchi and, if you like, fried onions and enjoy.
